Farewell of the F16
5th of July 2021.
The F16's will disappear from this base after 42 years and will go to Volkel Air Base to fly a few years operational from this base and then also be taken out of service.
At Leeuwarden Air Base now only F-35's are stationed.
Later this day I took some pictures of the participants of the exercise ‘Weapons Instructor Course’ (WIC) which takes place from this base.

Leeuwarden Air Base (Dutch: Vliegbasis Leeuwarden) is a military airbase used by the Royal Netherlands Air Force (RNLAF) - Dutch: Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu), (IATA: LWR, ICAO: EHLW).
The airbase will only be a F-35 airbase for RNLAF after 1st of July 2021, all F-16 activities will only take place at Volkel AFB.
The airbase lies northwest of the capital of Friesland, Leeuwarden.
Leeuwarden Air Base is also one of the three military airbases (together with Gilze-Rijen Air Base and Volkel Air Base) that organise the twice-in-three-years Luchtmachtdagen ('Air Force Days') of the Royal Netherlands Air Force, consisting of air shows and static exhibits.
